Illness or injury can stop us in our tracks. We get on with doing what we have to do during it but can be left not knowing how to get back to doing the things we love after the time out.
We may be nervous or hesitant about doing some of them, unsure of how our body will cope or where to start from. This is what I support people to do - to get back to what they love to do, safely, gradually and progressively.
I have extensive experience of working with specific needs such as:
sports injury rehabilitation
chronic illness (ME, Ehlors-Danlos, MS, Lupus, chronic stress / burnout)
mental health issues (OCD, anxiety, depression, eating disorders)
post surgery rehabilitation
We work together to gradually bring back strength, stability, endurance and a better range and variety of movement in your body - restoring movement - and get you back to doing activities you enjoy doing.
Pilates plays a big role in our sessions as it was so fundamental to my learning of how the body moves most effectively. I bring to this all the other learning and experience that I have from the last decade with regards to how we move, and how to restore healthy movement back to our body.
The content of our sessions are individually tailored to you based on what's currently going on for you, where you want to be, how you learn, and how your body moves.
Sessions are very much a joint partnership. While you ultimately do the work, I help you to become aware of how you are moving, how you can move, how to get away form over-thinking how you move and bring many years of experience of working with other individuals who have successfully used movement therapy following injury or illness.
