Coaching is for anyone looking to make positive changes in their life. It is a forward focused approach to moving away from negative thoughts, behaviours & feelings and towards living a more positive and balanced life. Coaching tends to be action-orientated & there is often some element of 'homework' or self-reflection agreed between us from session to session.
Coaching can help you discover, and implement, what you want and need for your own wellbeing by finding realistic and positive ways of achieving this. We look at your life in its whole context, bringing your own goals, dreams and desires for yourself back up the priority list, recognising the other roles and responsibilities that you have in your life and that your wellbeing underpins your ability to fully fulfil them.
People come to see me for coaching to
Manage stress and stress related behaviours
Improve their thoughts and feelings about their body
Change their behaviours relating to exercise, food and health
Improve their emotional and / or physical wellbeing
You may come to me with specific clear goals that we break down into shorter term manageable chunks and work out the hows of achieving these, while sessions together keep you accountable. Perhaps you come to me more with a sense of things not being how you want them to be, not sure of how or where to move forward, and together we work out how to positively do that from where you currently are at.
Coaching always starts with where you are at now and is forward focused from there. We may at times need to reflect back to your previous experiences in order to move forward, but we are not looking to understand 'why'. We are more intent on 'how' and 'where' to go from here. My practice of Coaching is based on a foundation of therapeutic NLP, counselling skills, CBT techniques and various mind/body connection tools.
A typical session will involve us starting with how things are for you currently and what you would like to deal with that session. We may talk through a particular situation that is challenging you at the moment and how it is affecting you, with a view to learning from it and managing it going forward. Or we may start with how you are currently feeling in a more general sense and work from there to help you move through things that may be keeping you stuck in some way.
The format for sessions are unique to you because you are unique and need to be coached as best meets your goals, your learning style and your personality. This is why it is important that you find the right coaching fit for you, so before we have any scheduled coaching session together we will have a chat by telephone, FaceTime, Skype or zoom so that we can be certain that I am the best person for you. If by any chance I am not for you then I can refer you to other practitioners who may be more your fit.
