Stress comes in many different guises and from various sources. Some stress is helpful. Persistent stress, not so. Persistent stress can feel overwhelming, all-encompassing and inescapable. Eventually this can become the norm for us, and no matter how well intended it is, being told 'you just need to relax', 'let it go' or 'stop worrying', isn't necessarily helpful advice when don't know how to!
Whether we are aware of it or not our body feels the physical impact of our stress because our mind and body are interconnected. But, because of this, we can work with our body to manage our stress and reverse some of the impact it is having. We can't always control what it is that is causing us stress, but we can learn to control our reaction to it by being aware of it in our body and so release the negative effect it is having on us.
I am here to offer you a sense of space, reflection and clarity. I will help you to gain an understanding and insight of your stress patterns and give you a safe non-judgemental environment to reflect and process your feelings.
Depending where you are starting from we can initially look to relieve the physical feelings of stress in a gradual and safe way. We may then go on to understand your patterns of stress, and how it manifests in your body and explore how to differentiate helpful stress from unhelpful stress, and know your signs to look out for. I can help you discover ways to reduce stress and cope better with it when it arises.
I offer both therapeutic coaching and movement therapy depending on what most appropriate for where you are at. In practice, sessions are generally some combination of both: if we decide to start with a more movement and body based approach then talking through things may naturally happen anyway; if we choose to start primarily with talking and coaching then elements of movement and body based practices can be brought into the therapeutic space to help us move forward.
It is important that you find the right person for you therefore I offer a free initial chat so that you can talk with me, ask me questions and so we can see if this is right for you. If you would like to arrange this then please contact me.
