Yin Yoga is the perfect compliment to an active busy life and the perfect opportunity to take time out of the daily stresses to focus on yourself, your body and your mind.

This gentle practice of yoga focuses on accessing and releasing the connective tissue (fascia) within the body to create space in the joints and balance in the muscles. It can improve mobility, flexibility and overall harmony within the body.

The poses are held for longer than they would be in a more dynamic practice, from 2-5 minutes depending on the pose and the overall theme of the class and can be assisted with the use of bolsters, blocks and blankets. It is said that it is at the latter end of the time period that the change really starts to happen in the pose..

Working at this level with the fascia can bring change to habitual patterns both within the body's movement and within the mind. You will be guided to turn down the volume of the 'mind's chatter' and become aware instead of internal feelings and thoughts. The slower pace gives to body time to fully connect, deepen awareness and allow change to happen. Since nothing is forced, any change tends to be instilled deep within the system and long term.
